: : the power of you

We live in a consumer-based society, but you can work to create positive change by increasing the market demand for alternative and environmentally friendly products. Buy organic foods, shop at smaller co-op stores and be prepared to spend a few more cents to help these alternative suppliers to survive and prosper. Say no to plastic bags and over-packaged products and buy recycled paper goods. You really can make a difference.

It doesn't take that much effort to 'tread more lightly on the planet', but your effort will be well rewarded.

Here is some information on living in an environmentally responsible and loving way.

Project Aware Foundation
www.projectaware.org

I am particularly passionate about the Project Aware Foundation.  It is the diving industries leading non-profit environmental organisation which works to conserve the underwater world through education, advocacy and activism.
It targets awareness and healing of over fishing, great white shark extinction risks, coral reef health and lots more.

The site provides information to let you make an informed choice on how you wish to live. Contained within the many pages of this web site, you will find many recipes, articles, resources, links, testimonials, information and support.

Animal Rights Resource Site

The Animal Concerns Community is a project of the Enviro Link Network (www.envirolink.org), a non-profit organization which has been providing access to thousands of online environmental and animal rights/welfare resources since 1991. This community serves as a clearinghouse for information on the Internet related to animal rights and welfare.

Global Green USA, the United States affiliate of Green Cross International, fosters a global value shift toward a sustainable and secure world through education, advocacy, partnerships, and programs focused on the safe elimination of weapons of mass destruction, stemming climate change, reducing resource use, and preventing conflicts over fresh water.

Planet Ark
www.planetark.com

Planet Ark is an Australian not-for-profit organization that was set up by the tennis player Pat Cash and (my friend!) international charity campaigner Jon Dee back in June 1991. Planet Ark also has offices in the UK, and its impact and initiatives are international. Planet Ark’s aim is to show people and business the many ways that they can reduce their day-to-day impact on the environment.
