WITCHY WAYS IN LA

Fiona Horne bubbles up in Hollywood

Spellbinding Fiona Horne is creating a bit of magic in Hollywood.

There are TV projects bubbling away – most significantly her potential role on Charmed – she has three books due for international release this year and she is working on a music project.

“It is all starting to happen,” Horne says.

Back in Australia to catch up with family and friends, Horne’s first stop was at CAJ Hairdressing in South Melbourne to have her trademark blonde locks trimmed by close friend Nadia Trowsdale (pictured with Horne).

“I basically come back to Melbourne every three months to have Nadia do my hair,” Horne says.

Horne has been based in LA for six months and has experienced the casting couch syndrome.

“I will have a meeting with a male executive and I will be there to talk business and they will look at you and say ‘Let’s take a lunch and talk’,” she says.

“I’ve learnt never to take business meetings after 6pm because they just want to take you out to dinner, get you drunk and try to get you into bed. You learn quickly. In all my time working in Australia I have never had this sort of thing pushed in my face.”

Living in LA, Horne has found she is far from lonely. There is a well-developed network of Australian actors there including Tasma Walton.

“It is great to support each other and great to be able to catch up each other, but you not get too insular over there,” she says.

“The key to success in America is to keep your options really open, to do business with Americans and to keep knocking on doors.”
